New Video/Blog Idea

The video is a test, mainly.  While there seems to be no jailbreak yet for iOS 7, there's also no definite way to record my iPad screen.  I've been looking into workarounds on how to mirror my screen anywhere to record it and I have found two methods for Windows.  The two programs are Reflector, and AirServer.

Both programs allow me to display my iPad the way I want to (almost seamlessly.)  Reflector allows me to record right from the program while I have to use a screen recording program like Fraps on AirServer.  AirServer records audio right from the program while reflector doesn't to my knowledge.  Reflector costs $12.99 while AirServer costs $14.99.  I am holding off on purchasing any of the two licenses because a jailbreak will eventually come out.

If I remember the last major jailbreak came out in February or March.  I don't know when the next one will come out for sure but it's inevitable.  AirServer's license for me is going to be running out any day now, while Reflector has an unlimited trial.  Reflector's downside is that you can only use it for ten minutes at a time before it closes out.  My iPad videos usually go over this limit but I will have to compensate for the sake being.

Now, onto the video.  I show Oceanhorn, Clumsy Ninja, and Max Payne.  The main attractions in the video are Oceanhorn and Clumsy Ninja, as they are new and largely anticipated apps.  I've been personally waiting for Oceanhorn for a little over a year.  I saw a video about Clumsy Ninja less than a year ago and completely forgot about it until its release.  I threw Max Payne in because of its higher-end graphics to see how AirServer would handle it... and it handed all three apps rather well.

Maybe I will make a new blog section for app reviews and make a review on both apps soon.  At the time I don't have a source of income which prohibits me in getting any new app releases, but I do have a huge catalog of very popular and well received games that I'd love to play and review.

Whenever I get the chance to get one I am for sure going to do a Mario 64 100% playthrough.  I have beaten the game numerous times enough to speed through it.  I will also upload GTA V gameplay, not of any missions, but possibly a 1 to 2 hour gameplay video of just "messing around" spoiler free

I want to get through a Contra video styled like my Ninja Gaiden video, as well as Mario (possibly) and I want to do a GTA III all missions playthrough as well.

I can never properly render a video right, it always fits the screen or it doesn't, but thanks to my latest video I may have found a way around that by making a border for my videos.  Rather than stretching the videos to fit the screen, the best way for me is to leave it as close to the original size as I can and force 1080p HD Resolution via a static background image.  It worked for my video perfectly to my desire so I will keep doing it

Future Video Goals

  • Reach 1,200 subscribers.  With an increase in content, a stroke of motivation, and help optimizing my videos, I will hope my channel reaches out to more people to where I can gain at least 200 more subscribers

  • Put out at least 10-15 videos.  Explanatory enough

  • Acquire a capture card.  Presumably the Hauppauge HD PVR.  This will be a major key to making more videos.  If I play a game I like to play on original hardware and refrain from using emulators

  • If a Jailbreak for iOS7 comes soon, then more iOS gameplay

Status of YouTube Account/New Video Release

As of August 28th, I was contacted by a recruiter to a YouTube Partnership network.  About a week later I got in contact with them and successfully joined their network.  What this means for TheReginaldProgram is uncertain.  I am led to believe that this partnership will earn more subscribers and views to the channel, as well as earn me more revenue.  Compared to Adsense, this is a huge upgrade.  With more frequent payments it will allow me to better my channel with new equipment like a capture card.

That being said, I uploaded a video on the 10th of September titled Ninja Gaiden: I Can't Do This.  Check it out on YouTube here
